The burst

In my exploration of depicting atmosphere with textile materials, I am fascinated by the contrast between the softness of textiles and the hardness of natural structures such as cracked stone or dried-out earth. The strength of this work lies in its paradox: using soft textiles to represent hard, fragile surfaces.

Through felting, stitching, and creating relief, surfaces emerge that evoke the illusion of brittle, cracked materials. The color palette plays a significant role in this process: warm earthy tones such as rust brown and terracotta are combined with cool grays and weathered shades of broken white and beige. These colors evoke associations with weathered stone, the parched crusts of the earth, and the melancholy of transience.
